Food for a Diet – Good Tips for Choices

What is good food for a diet? This is a question that is easy to answer and deceptively difficult to answer at the same time! Good food for a diet has to be healthy food, but food you enjoy at the same time. If your choices are very limited and you hate it, you will not be able to stick to it. So, in the end I , good food for a diet is food that will help you shed those extra pounds whilst still providing you with satisfying meals.

One thing is certain, when you are trying to lose weight, vegetables are you best friend. Certain vegetables can even be called “negative calorie” and can really aid in your efforts. Remember, you cannot eat only that and have to include a wider variety, but still, they are great to fill up on when you are very hungry.

These vegetables, and some fruits as well, are also very suitable to have available as snacks when you get the munchies in between meals. I’m going to give you a list of some of them, but please use it wisely and do not try and eat only these foods as it can be very detrimental to your heath.

So, here is your list of good food for a diet:

1. Vegetables:

  • Asparagus
  • Beets
  • Broccoli
  • Carrot
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery stalk
  • Celery root
  • Cucumber
  • Eggplant
  • Endives
  • Garden cress
  • Garlic
  • Green beans
  • Green cabbage
  • Lamb’s lettuce
  • Lettuce
  • Onions
  • Radishes
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Turnips
  • Zucchini

An important thing to keep in mind here is the way you prepare these vegetable. Do not add calories with your cooking methods. Eat the vegetables raw as far as possible and otherwise steam them and flavor with herbs and a little lemon juice.

2. Fruit:

  • Apples
  • Blueberries
  • Cantaloupes
  • Cranberries
  • Grapefruit
  • Lemons
  • Papayas
  • Pineapples
  • Prunes
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Tangerines

Obviously you cannot eat only fruit and vegetables because they are good food for a diet. Your body needs proteins, carbohydrates and a little fat to function properly and stay healthy. You have to eat those as well, but filling up on the fruit and veggies and keeping them available as snacks is a very good idea.

Obviously, when considering food for a diet, you need to give a lot of attention to the preparations of your meals. You have to be very careful that you do not turn a “good” one into a “bad” one by your cooking methods. Use low fat or fat free cooking methods as far as possible. So, combine the fruit and veggies with the right kind of protein and carbohydrates and you know what can be considered good food for a diet.
